Many Danes entering the rescue are not adoptable due to temperament, age or health.  Those that are not a danger to humans or other animals and have health problems that can be controlled enough to give quality to their remaining years are candidates for the sanctuary.  Space is very limited at this time.  The cost of caring for these dogs can be extremely expensive.  Therefore each case will be evaluated before the Dane is accepted.  Either the owner or a sponsor must sign a contract to donate $50 a month towards the care of that Dane for the remainder of its' life.  The Dane will live in the home as a family member and given quality and loving care.  Some of these dogs could be adopted to the right person with the knowledge and experience to work with them.

SANCTUARY
Turman had minor aggression issues when he came to the rescue.  He has since come a long way towards overcoming them.  However we would never adopt out a Dane with any known aggression.  Since he is well behaved and not aggressive in the care program he will remain in the sanctuary.

Daisy is a beautiful girl with a few problems.  She has "pica" which means she eats odd stuff, like blankets, toys, socks etc.  She has had two surgeries to remove items from her small intestine.  Her rectum also prolapses, or protrudes outside the body, when she defacates.
And she is not potty trained and goes where ever she wants.  She is sweet, loving and gentle but not a candidate for adoption unless a very special person wants to work with her.
Guinness is a beautiful, friendly boy.  He has an autoimmune disease and gets steroid injections periodically.  He could be adopted to that special person who wants to help him.
