OUR MISSION is the care and re-homing of Purebred Great Danes.
GDROMN covers all of Minnesota, Wisconsin , and surrounding areas , accepting Purebred Great Danes from all sources including individuals, shelters and animal control facilities. We occasionally accept Danes from other states on a case by case basis. Our affiliation with a group of 165 rescues and shelters enables us to cover this large area without compromising the quality of our service.
We provide the best medical care available, experienced and loving foster homes and find the best match for the Dane and the new owner.
We also educate the public about the temperament and special food and health concerns of Danes, the need for spay and neuter and the benefits of micro chipping their dogs and cats.
Many of our volunteers are long time members of Heart of Minnesota Great Dane Club with many years of Great Dane experience. Most all of our volunteers are Great Dane owners, from all walks of life and with one thing in common, a love of the breed.
We operate under the guide lines set forth by the Great Dane Club of America. We are a registered Corporation in both Wisconsin and Minnesota.
We are a 501 c 3 not- for- profit and depend entirely on donations to continue helping the Great Danes.
Our history.
In October of 2008 a member of Heart of Minnesota Great Dane Club began doing Dane Rescue under the name Great Dane Rescue. The first two fosters were Zeus from MN and Rex from WI. As word of the rescue spread more volunteers came forward and a much larger rescue evolved. The founder of the original rescue chose to continue on with it and keep it on a smaller scale. The name was changed to Great Dane Rescue of MN and WI and the group incorporated and gained not for profit status as a 501 c3 charitable organization.
